IN ARPIAR THE ROSES BLOOM - Rebekah K. Lawrence

In Arpiar the roses bloom
Yet all is cast in deepest gloom
For the king he seeks his daughter
To sacrifice her in slaughter

In Arpiar the roses bloom
A princess weaves upon a loom
One asks her name, a mindless Boy
One the king uses as a toy

In Arpiar the roses bloom
Far away in the Dragon's room
A princess sits upon a throne
Surrounded by many a bone

The moon she bleeds
The lion pleads
But not for deeds
The lion dies
The goblin cries
A star it flies

In Arpiar a Rose still blooms
The Prince has stated all their dooms
The Rose so Red who twice was veiled
Is now the queen of the un-veiled

I loved the retelling of the story of Moonblood in this form! The rhyming made it song-like, and the theme of what is truly beautiful rang true. Wonderful!

Oh nice! This is lovely, and moves along smoothly. I especially like the last stanza! Perfect way to say it!

This is beautiful, Rebekah! It sounds like a tale sung by bards far in the future, singing ballads of times long ago to the children by the fireside. Beautifully done! :D
