A Song of Bard Eanrin of Rudiobus

I know I haven't been as active on this blog lately . . . and I do miss all of you dreadfully. Hoping to start blogging more often (and getting those Friday Tidbits back up and running!). But I'm currently caught right up to the eyebrows in a final read-through of Dragonwitch (before it goes to print. YAY!) and some rewrites on Shadow Hand (which should be getting a cover soon. YAY!) Not to mention my Super-Secret Project, which I hope to reveal quite soon.

But in the meanwhile, I thought I'd give you faithful Goldstone Wood Imps a little something to enjoy. This is a new song written by Eanrin and featured in Shadow Hand. Vain cat that he is, he cannot wait to share it, so here you go:

"For she is my darling, dreadful one

Her face is fierce, but full of fun

I'll have no other, have no other

To dance with me but her!

Oh she is my darling, dreadful one,

If you can't love her, better run!

One look at her, my heart's undone,

I'll dance with none but her!"

Now who do you think he could possibly be singing about???

I don't know who he is singing about, I have some ideas but I am not so sure that they are right. But the song is great. Tell Eanrin that I said so!

So, this might have been answered before, but I never saw it so I'll ask. Who many books will be in this series? It would be cool if you could keep writing indefinitely, but I don't think that publishers let that happen.

Either Gleamdren or Imraldera...hard to tell! My personal opinion is Imraldera, because I love her and Eanrin's relationship.

I'm a new fan to this series, but it's already one of my favorites. :) Looking forward to DRAGONWITCH this summer!

By chance, will there be a fan fiction contest in the future? I'm an avid reader and writer, and hope to contribute something to the fantastic world of Goldstone Wood!

I'm leaning towards Imraldera, but I'm biased....:P

And yes, I was wondering if there would be another fan fiction contest as well. That would be so much fun!

Oh that Eanrin!

Hmmmm...Whoever he's singing about, I think he's teasing them. It could be his latest mockery of Gleamdren, or it could be a sly flirtation with Imraldera. Or he could be singing a song from the perspective of another guy concerning his sweetheart, to get on that guy's nerves.

I look forward to seeing your future posts, Anne!

My dear creative writers, YES! There will be not one, but TWO exciting contests coming up in the near future. One will be fan fiction and one . . . well . . . you'll just have to wait and see about that one! ;)

But I'll be posting the information on the first of these contests on June 1st. The other one I think I'll host in July-August. So keep your eyes open for details.

@Bookishqueen: I actually do hope to keep writing in this series indefinitely. At the moment, I have fifteen novels planned out, and then some shorter works speckled in between various places. But every time I write one novel, I get ideas for one or two more. It's such a vast world, I think I could have fodder for Goldstone Wood stories to last me a lifetime! But we'll see . . . we'll see . . .

15 novels planned out???? And we know only of 7!!! Sigh. Wow. What wonderful hope for the literary future!

I'm hoping he's singing about Imraldera. :-)

This world is awesome, so to know there are 15 planned and many more to come? YES! :-)

That's so exciting! I can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve, Anne Elisabeth! It'll be something fun to look forward to in the summer months when I'm working!

And 15? That gives me great hope to see some minor characters' stories fleshed out....? For example, maybe some of the faerie lords/ladies? Maybe Captain Catspaw? For some reason, he fascinates me. Or the child emperor from Lionheart's travels? So many options! I can't wait to see whose stories are to come!!!

Eanrin's song instantly reminded me of "My Pretty Irish Girl" Was that on purpose?

I think he's teasing Gleamdren. At least I hope he is:)

I'm with Kay J. Fields...it INSTANTLY reminded me of "My Pretty Irish Girl"!

Darling Eanrin...I can't wait to go on another adventure with him!

15 planned Goldstone Wood novels?! You have just made me a very happy person! I'm dying to read Dragonwitch!

Anne Elisabeth Stengl said...

Hmmm . . . if it's too close to that other song, I might have to have a little chat with Eanrin and tell him he needs to work on his lyrics a bit! LOL.

Clara said...

No no! It's not too close. The rythm just reminded me of that song. Don't tell Eanrin to change it! He'll be most offended and you know how he can be when he's offended. ;)

Love reading Sir Eanrin's song! I'm really looking forward to being in the Goldstone Wood again!

Dear Anne Elisabeth,
When I read that you had fifteen novels planned out, I died of happiness. <3

Hannah said...

Christa: If you died, how are you typing on the computer?

Anne Elisabeth Stengl said...

Christa is now a phantom typist . . . ;)

Molly said...

What no. I'm not creeped out. One bit.

Where's my bed covers when I need to hide under them?

Christa said...

Why yes, yes I am.
Now, I must take my leave and start scaring everybody. Muahaha!!

Clara said...

What is that "Heroes, Kings, and Dragons"???

Anne Elisabeth Stengl said...

Click on it, Clara Darling, and it will lead you to a page that explains it! :)

Part of me says that Eanrin is writing to Gleamdren as he always seems to do. The other more hopeful part of me says that he is writing to Imraldera.
You all seem to have so much fun on this blog and I love the series!

Clara said...

Eeeek! That sounds like so much fun! I don't have a facebook, but maybe I will get one for this party:)

Maiden G. said...

Yes, that plagarizing cat!! He stole that, like Kay J. Fields said!

And, he will say that it is about Gleamdrene, but we all know the truth.

15 books?!?! Too short!

Eanrin didn't plagarize anything! I love that poem!

Meredith said...

There is no such thing as plagarism where songs are concerned. You hear a song, and it is woven into your spirit, so you add your own embellishments and themes. I loved it, Sir Eanrin. As to who you are singing to, I could go the traditional route and say Lady Gleamdren or Dame Imraldera, but I'm thinking you might be teasing someone. So, I'm going out on a limb and hazarding a different guess. You might be referring to Lady Daylily. Since Lionheart wouldn't dance with her to one of your other songs, perhaps you are referencing that incident. Just a thought.

Hannah said...

Hear, Hear!!! My thoughts exactly, Meredith. I think it is Daylily. Eanrin could be giving Lionheart a bad time because he approved the match with Varvare, or he could be teasing another guy entirely, but I think the girl is Daylily!

Meredith said...

Oh, Hannah, that's so neat that you think the same thing! I hope that you are doing well and looking forward to summer vacation. It's been crazy around here, so a summer break is always nice. God bless you.

Fairbird said...

I would say Daylily... Except that if its actually about king shadow hand, this would be years before lionheart was born. Unless Eanrin is prophetic, this can't be about Daylily.

Fairbird said...

I would say its about Gleamdren, but it's much different than his other songs about his 'love'. Usually he would be singing about how pretty and sweet and lovely she is. If this were about her...Eanrin, don't you know this will make her madder than she already is??? Lol okay so I think it's Imraldera.

Fairbird said...

I know this is off topic, but Anne Elisabeth, how does immortality work? Is it like they are born, they reach a certain age, then stop aging? Kinda like movie stars...lol.

Anne Elisabeth Stengl said...

@Fairbird: I think it depends on the Faerie involved.

Eanrin, for instance, WAS born at some time, but he simply doesn't remember it, nor who is mother or family are. And he doesn't care! It's just not something his people put a lot of emphasis on. (They obviously HAVE family groups of some kind, though, because Eanrin has a nephew--Diarmid.)

I think a lot of the immortality of my Faerie folk has to do with the odd progression of Time within their world. While there is Time of some sort, it's not a constant stream such as in the mortal world (the "time-bound lands," as they Faerie call it). And the progress of Time is different in each demesne too! So people don't age, or don't age in the same sort of way.

I like your analogy of movie stars, though! That's actually a pretty pithy way to look at it. :)

Fairbird said...

Thanks for answering! It makes more sense now. I wonder who Eanrin's parents are....

P.S. Fairbird, the kitten in your profile picture made me squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! ;)

Isn't she the cutest? Her name is Momo. :)
