Nomination!

I am so excited to share with you, my Goldstone Wood Imps, that Starflower has been nominated for the 2013 Christy Award for Visionary Novel!

I am so excited! Click here to see the rest of the nominations. You will notice that Daughter of Light by Morgan Busse (who was featured here on the Goldstone Wood blog just a few weeks ago) was also nominated! So a big congratulations to her as well, and to all of these talented authors. I am honored, humbled, and very excited.

And I think I'm going to wear . . .

Ooooh, I know! But I'm going to keep it secret.

Oh, I haven't won it, Molly! I'm just nominated, along with two other fantastic speculative fiction novelists. The awards banquet is in late June, so you can root for me then! :)

Meant to thank you, Mrs. Stengl, for putting the link to all the nominations on your blog. I'm always looking for new books, so the list is very helpful. Have read Liz Curtis Higgs A Wreath of Snow last Christmas, and it was excellent. Do you think she'll M.C. the awards this year? I've heard her speak before, and she's so hilareous and profound! She sings beautifully, too.
I found two other of the nominations and read Child of the Mountains over the weekend. A very good young adult book I'd recommend. Also going to read the James L. Rubard book. Honestly don't know how the judges choose, but I must reiterate how proud I am that Starflower was nominated! Don't know if I told you, but the personification of the lustful river was phenomenal. I recently reread the novel and was thunderstruck by the use of the river as a character. I picked up on a lot of things I'd missed on the first reading, which just shows how multi-layered the story is. Poor Starflower came across many evil entities in her young life. Would you mind if I read a passage about the river to an English class when explaining personification? It's a perfect example.

Anyway, have a fantastic rest of the week. God bless you.

Oh, I would be honored for you to use that passage from STARFLOWER to explain personification to your students. :)

And I'm so glad that you enjoyed that book so well, Meredith. I really love that story myself, and I am thrilled to see it among the nominees this year. And I hope, of course, that you will enjoy DRAGONWITCH equally well!
