Announcing Book 6

Dear reader friends, I received word today on the official title chosen for Book 6 in the Tales of Goldstone Wood! Are you ready for it?

Official cover art and back cover copy coming in the next few months! But feel free to share this poster if you like. I can't tell you too much else about the story at this point, but . . . just to pique your interest a bit, I will give a snippet from a ballad written by our own beloved Bard Eanrin:

The Ballad of Shadow Hand
As put to verse
by Eanrin, Bard and Chief Poet
of
Iubdan Tynan,
 King of Rudiobus
(Inscribed at the hand of Dame Imraldera,
who claims no part of these verses as her own)
______

O! Shadow Hand of Here and There,
Follow where you will
Your fickle, fleeing, fiery Fair
O'er woodlands, under hill.

She'll not be found save by the stone,
The stern and shining Bronze
Where Crooked stands the Mound alone
Thorn-clad and sharp with awns.

How pleasant are the Faerie folk
Who dwell beyond your time.
How pleasant are your aged Kinfolk
 Of olden, swelt'ry clime.

But dark the tithe they pay, my son
To safely dwell beneath that sun!

Tell me what you think? Does this title sound fun? Do you recognize the name from any little hints dropped in previous books?

YAY!!! I love the title, and the poster, and am nuts about the poem (I love Eanrin's verse, which I guess means I think you are a gifted poet, Anne Elisabeth Stengl, which you are).
Thank you, and I can't wait!

I'm reading through Veiled Rose right now, and there's a King Shadow Hand mentioned, who bargained his own hands for protecting his kingdom. :-)

I love the poster! Beautiful! Minus the young woman, it looks like what I've been looking at out of my front (or any) window the last two weeks!

I know Eanrin's poem is very telling, tantalizing, and of course very clever, but waiting for over a year to bring my feeble mind understanding will be wonderfully agonizing! Looking forward to Dragonwitch, Shadowhand and beyond! Congratulations, Anne Elisabeth!

Congratulations, Mrs. Stengl! How very exciting, and the title is so intriguing.

I just read The Perilous Gard, by Elizabeth Marie Pope which you recommended, and it was so very beautiful. I loved Kate and really related to her, particularly her clumsy way of walking and her stammering. Loved her courage and kind heart, and that conversation between her and the Fairy Queen about Jesus being the only true teind payer! Outstanding! I assume this author is also a Christian. Her defense of Jesus' sacrifice was so very moving. Thanks for recommending that book. I don't think it's one I'll forget in a hurry.
Since your own book is loosely based on Tam Lin, I'd assume the story is about a particular bargain. Also loved Sir Eanrin's poem but will have to ponder the meaning. Our communications have given me an idea of the protagonist, but I won't say anything else about it. Wonderful news! God bless you.

"She'll not be found save by the stone."

All of the sudden I remember a strange thing Torkom the goblin said, "There is no speeding through the Wood without a path. You'll wander lost for generations and be drawn at last to the center, where the Dark Water once lay and where now is only an empty Gold Stone. There, you'll die."

hmmmm...very mysterious and insightful me thinks. The Dark Water can only be seen now in the Netherworld. In the Wood Between the Goldstone now lies in a forest...perhaps thorn-clad and sharp with awns.

Wow, this sounds really exciting. I have been reading your blog for a while now and have checked out your books, but never actually read any of them yet. Hopefully I can soon. They should really awesome and from the amount of really nice comments you've been getting from all your other fans, I'd say they are already awesome I don't know what I'm missing yet.
Love, Annie-Jo

PS. Confession : I am an aspiring author and I especially love/d your writing tips. They were quite inspiring at times.
PPS. Are you planning/have ideas for any more books for TOGW after Shadowhand?

I'm trying to convince my brother-- who's a boy and likes fantasy adventure books-- that "Veiled Rose" and "Moonblood" aren't girly: that, in fact, the main character in them is male! Then I thought how he must see it, with all the covers having girls on the front... I love, love, LOVE the covers of your books, Anne Elisabeth (they are so gorgeous!), I was just wondering if some of the later books could have a boy on the front, or maybe a boy and a girl...
