I've been sitting on this cover for a while now due to some changes in our planned release date. But I am very pleased to finally be able to present to you . . .
In the Darkness of the Pit
The Light Shines Brightest
Drums summon the
chieftain’s powerful son to slay a man in cold blood and thereby earn his place
among the warriors. But instead of glory, he earns the name
Draven, “Coward.” When the men of his tribe march off to war, Draven
remains behind with the women and his shame. Only fearless but crippled Ita
values her brother’s honor.
The warriors return from
battle victorious yet trailing a curse in their wake. One by one the strong and
the weak of the tribe fall prey to an illness of supernatural power. The secret
source of this evil can be found and destroyed by only the bravest heart.
But when the curse attacks
the one Draven loves most, can this coward find the courage he needs to face
the darkness?

So what do you think, dear Imps? Are you excited for this newest adventure? Which, by the way, is set the farthest back in the history of the Near World of any of the Tales so far! Long before the Dragonwitch, when the Brothers Ashiun still walked the Near World, building the Houses of Lights . . .
You can read an exciting excerpt for the story here. Also, by clicking here, you can learn how this story came to be!
Draven's Light is available for pre-order in paperback now. You can help spread the word by sharing this blog button and purchase link:

This cover was designed by a very talented young artist, Mihaela Voicu. You can visit her on Facebook and see more of her lovely work! The image she created is the perfect fit for this story, incorporating many subtle details and depicting the atmosphere of darkness and adventure I had hoped to see. This is easily one of my favorite covers for this series . . .
To celebrate this reveal, I am offering advance reader copies of Draven's Light to three lucky winners! These copies will be beautiful print versions with all the fun formatting details and will be sent to the winners a few months before the official release date. So if you're curious to read Draven's Light before everyone else, do enter your name in the giveaway below!

Oh my gosh, yes!!!! This is SO gorgeous! Probably either this one or Golden Daughter has my favorite cover.
ReplyDeleteI love the ethereal atmosphere that the cover emits. It really is a wonderful piece of art - perfect for the wonderful written art waiting inside to be sure! I can't wait to read this new adventure in the Goldstone series!
ReplyDeleteAaaaah! This cover is amazing! I love it! It's mysterious and . . . I'm not sure pretty is the right word, but pretty in an epic way. If that makes sense.
ReplyDeleteAnd because I forgot: Heartless remains my favorite cover. This just became a close second, though.
ReplyDeleteNo, I haven't read TALES OF GOLDSTONE WOOD. The covers are so AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteEep! This sounds so exciting! :D I love how the cover turned out. Very epic.
ReplyDeleteSo far, I've read the first five Tales of Goldstone Wood books, plus Goddess Tithe. I still need to catch up on Shadow Hand and Golden Daughter, though.
It's so hard to pick a favorite cover! Hmm... I suppose I'd have to say Shadow Hand. Or Golden Daughter. Or Heartless. In fact, the cover of Heartless was one of the main reasons I started reading the series in the first place! :)
I have read several of the Tales of Goldstone Wood. I think this cover looks great but Heartless' cover is my favorite. :)
ReplyDeleteI am so excited about Draven's Light, Anne Elisabeth! Also I love the excerpt. . . so interesting!
ReplyDeleteI've read all of your Tales of Goldstone Wood novels and one novella :). I still can't quite choose a favourite, because each book is more amazing than before; though Dragonwitch has always held a special place in my heart because it was the first Goldstone Wood story that made me truly love your writing and be a fan, Anne Elisabeth!
Moonblood, Starflower, Shadow Hand, and Golden Daughter are my favourite covers, I think :)
It is gorgeous. : D My favorite cover will forever be Starflower. It's the first Tales of Goldstone Wood novel I read, and it is, in my humble opinion, perfect. : )
ReplyDeleteI have read four Goldstone Wood books: Heartless, Veiled Rose, Starflower, and Golden Daughter. My favorite cover is Heartless. Thanks for doing a giveaway!
ReplyDeleteCaitlyn
Oh, Mrs. Anne Elisabeth, how wonderful! Congratulations. So very excited! And, what a thoughtful giveaway. Now I have two Goldstone Wood books to look forward too. Really, this waiting is a true test of patience. Poor Ms. Laurie is working to braille a statistics book right now. She says Golden Daughter is next on her list, so there is light at the end of the tunnel.
ReplyDeleteLoved the excerpt from Draven's Light and am so eager to learn more of Southlands history. Also love the fact that the hero has a disabled sister. Know she'll prove to be vital to the story. Thank you.
Also, I never realized that Dragonwitch was given the Christy Award. It was definitely well-deserved. Congratulations.
Ahhh!!! The cover is so amazing!! :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Tales of Goldstone Wood cover would probably be either Heartless or Dragonwitch or Shadow Hand.
-Ryebrynn
This cover is fantastic! The imagery is very dark (though not grim) and adventurous. I love the gold color of the Tales of Goldstone Wood logo on the back!
ReplyDeleteI have read all of the Goldstone Wood novels (and novella) up to Golden Daughter and I've loved each better than the last! I heartily recommend them to all of my friends. :) All of you covers are beautiful, I don't know if I can choose a favorite. I do particularly like ShadowHand and Dragonwitch. But, again, they're all so lovely!

ReplyDeleteUp to now my favorite cover might have been Shadowhand but this one looks amazing!

ReplyDelete*squee* Draven's Light looks (and sounds) awesome! I can't wait to read it. :D
ReplyDeleteOh, and I've read Heartless, Veiled Rose, Moonblood, Starflower, Dragonwitch, and Shadow Hand. I just finished Shadow Hand earlier this month, and I think it's my favorite cover art thus far. :)
YAY! The cover is amazing! I can't wait to read it! XD
ReplyDeleteI've read up to Shadow Hand, and they're all amazing! I love the increasing complexity and can't wait to read Golden Daughter. :D
My favorite cover would be...hmm...how am I supposed to pick one?! *sigh* Either Starflower or Moonblood. The setting of the covers is mysterious, hinting at danger (a night-time/dream type lighting) and the characters are lovely!
What if I've already subscribed to the Goldstone Wood and Rooglewood Press newsletter? Can I click "Enter" anyways and get the entries?
Thanks!
God bless,
-Merenwen
This. This. This....
ReplyDeleteHeartless might still be my favorite cover, but this one.......no, actually I think this is my favorite now!!!!
Fabulous cover! I love the shadowy feel of it. And those clawed hands on the back cover . . . *shivers* Definitely looking forward to reading this!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite covers are probably Shadow Hand and Golden Daughter, although this one gets pretty close. And the only ToGW I haven't yet read are Goddess Tithe, Golden Daughter, and (of course) Draven's Light. :)
I have read ALL of the Tales of Goldstone Wood, and I adore each and every cover (although Dragonwitch may be my favorite...) Thank you for including me in your cover reveal! Love the new cover! (And I cannot WAIT to read the book!) :)

ReplyDeleteI have read all the Tales of Goldstone Wood and my favourite cover is definitely Shadow Hand. Draven's light looks amazing and I CANNOT wait to read it!
ReplyDeleteI've read all of the Goldstone Wood novels, and my favorite cover is either Dragon Witch (it was the first one I encountered) or Shadow Hand. I love the redheads!
ReplyDeleteI really like all of the covers, but my faves are Starflower & Shadow Hand. :)
ReplyDeleteBeth
I've read everything except Golden Daughter, though it is sitting on my nightstand beckoning... my favorite cover is/was Shadow Hand... but this is definitely in the running...
ReplyDeleteI love the cover! I shall be reading this when it comes out.
ReplyDeleteThe covers for the Tales of Goldstone Wood novels and novellas are all so gorgeous, and this one is no exception. :) I've only been following this blog for a few months and haven't had the chance read any of the books yet, but I want to soon because they sound wonderful! I'm hoping I can get a copy of Heartless and start working on reading the whole series as soon as I finish the book I'm reading now.
ReplyDeleteGreat cover! Looking forward to this book.
ReplyDeleteI have read Heartless but I own three other ones! So far Draven Light is my favorite! Is is sooo cool and pretty! I am very excited to read the rest of the books in the series!
ReplyDeleteThe giveaway link is not loading properly.
ReplyDeleteI so want to read this book!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the cover!!!!!
And the blurb!!!!!
Jemma
I've read all of the books now and I must say - the Rooglewood covers are the best. They are all great but Golden Daughter is just beautiful and this new cover is wonderfully creepy.
ReplyDeleteShadow hand is my favourite cover apart from this one! Is it a stand alone book is is it part of the Goldstone Woods series.
ReplyDeleteI heard about this series only recently, but already I can't wait to read it!
ReplyDeleteSO EXCITED!! This cover has reminisces of the latest Hobbit movie. He looks slightly like Fili:)
ReplyDeleteMy favourite covers of Tales of Goldstone Woods are: Starflower, Dragonwitch and Shadowhand.
I have read all of the Goldstone Wood Novels except Golden Daughter. I am so excited for this new novella! I would have to say that my favorite book covers would be Shadow Hand, Starflower, and now Draven's Light!
ReplyDeleteI really like the goblin hands on the back. I'm glad you're picking up on the theme of a man finding his strength in weakness. The unevenness of the columns or trees in the background adds to the sense of earthy or under earthy dark place.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite cover shadow hand or starflower☺
ReplyDelete-Ruth
I'm so excited about this book! I have read all the Tales of Goldstone Wood books so far, but I don't know if I could pick a favorite cover. If I had to choose one, though, I would probably go with Golden Daughter.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all the lovely comments, everyone! I am thrilled with this cover and can hardly wait to share the with all of you. :)
ReplyDelete@Merenwen--Yes, if you've already subscribed to the newsletter, you should be able to just press "enter" and have it count toward the giveaway. Good question!
Sounds pretty interesting :D I'd love to win it! I might even buy it if I don't win ;)
ReplyDeleteWhoops, didn't realize I had to answer a specific question in the comment :D
ReplyDeleteI read the first one a long time ago ... but I can't really remember much about it except that a princess turned into a dragon. I guess I need to reread it :D
Wow, it's amazing how many books you've got out now. I still have my copy of Moonblood to tackle, but I loved the first two books. Congrats on all you've achieved and I hope to see many more of your books published in the future.

ReplyDeleteI think this cover or "Shadowhand"'s is my favourite!! <3 :)
ReplyDeleteI love all the covers! It's so hard to pick just one, but I think i'm going to go with Dragonwitch--the cover is just so dramatic!
ReplyDeleteThat cover is beautiful!! It's making me even more excited to read the story inside! As for my favorite cover in the series... that would probably have to be Shadowhand or Golden Daughter! But they are all so beautiful! And I agree with an anonymous post above...the model does look like Kili from The Hobbit!
ReplyDeleteI love the cover! I'm so looking forward to this one! So far I've read Heartless, Shadow Hand, Goddess Tithe and Golden Daughter (which is my absolute favorite)!
ReplyDeleteI love all the covers and books! Omgsh they're all so pretty <3 *strokes books lovingly*
ReplyDeleteI simply adore this cover!! Might I suggest a cover with Eanrin on it? I would love to see a new image of him! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a spectacular cover!! I cannot wait to read Draven's Light...:)
ReplyDeleteYou folks are all so kind! I'm delighted with the excitement for this novel, and I do hope all of you will love it as much as I loved writing it! :)
ReplyDelete@Olivia--Yes, I would love to see Eanrin on a cover too! Needs to be a story that prominently features him of course, but there will certainly be more of those in time to come. (And technically he is featured on GOLDEN DAUGHTER . . . .)
