I knew that something worse than death was going to happen, death being just the separation of the soul and body, but if Una succumbed to the Dragon, she'd be lost to the evil one.... I'm not exactly sure that is what I thought when I first read it. ha! But I did think there was something coming that was way worse than death.

2. Fidel is so harsh because he is trying to keep it together. He is guilt ridden, condemning himself for not listening Aethelbald, and he dearly loves his children, but he's up against an overwhelming enemy that he knows he can't beat, but instead of letting his emotions through, he's acting out in anger/rough/etc, keeping his real emotions at bay.Jennettehttp://www.jlmbewe.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7102067376746188002.post-20900044978948757172012-12-20T21:14:24.707-05:002012-12-20T21:14:24.707-05:00To Annymous: Absolutely loved the web site about t...To Annymous: Absolutely loved the web site about the wood thrush! The sound is just as I imagined: attention-grabbing yet soothing as well. Liked how the site described the thrush's song as flute-like. Fidel said this startling statement becuase, with Aethelbald's wornings revisiting his mind, he knew that the Dragon's tormenting of his ictims was far worse than a quick death. Of course, I say all this now. When I first read the book, I remember being shocked by the statement, but I still understood that Una was in a terrifying predicament. I desperately wanted some form of relief to come to her.

2. The Dragon poison is corroding Fidel's reasoning, yet I think his response to Felix stems from the love he has for his son. Also, it's been a very harrowing experience for them all, so he'd naturally sound harsh.

Love the reference to Janus.
