Cover Reveal Day!

The time has come, my friends! Behold, the cover for Book 5 in the Tales of Goldstone Wood:

An Ancient Evil

Long ago, Etanun buried his sword in the depths of the Netherworld then vanished from all known history. One day, it is said, his heir will find the sword, and the Dragonwitch, firstborn of the Dragon King, will be finally slain.

A Desperate Hope

These stories are no more than nursery rhymes. In a world of cold reality, what room is left for fairy tales? Lady Leta of Aiven is pledged to marry a man she does not love . . . sleepless Lord Alistair struggles to unite the stubborn earls of the North Country . . . Mouse is lost, far from home, slaving as a kitchen drudge . . .

. . . and the reclusive Chronicler, keeping the records of Gaheris Castle, bears a secret so dangerous it could cost him his life and plunge the North Country into civil war.

An Impossible Journey

But when nursery rhymes begin to come horribly true, will these unlikely heroes find the strength they need to fulfill a prophecy of fire? For the Dragonwitch lives. And she has vowed vengeance on all who have wronged her.

  1. It looks quite frightening what with all the smoke coming out if her dress.

  3. Oooooh the story sounds amazing! I wasn't sure what this book would be about, but now I know it has something to do with the Lady of Aiven! I'm looking forward to it!!!
I think it's awesome that the sword is the stone. Rather classsic. Only it's a really bad sign for the good guys that the bad girl is reaching for the sword in the stone.
Ah...but perhaps only they who are worthy will be able to pull it out.

  4. I just got your first three books in this series from the library last month, and I feel in love with them. I went ahead and bought the first three and pre-ordered Starflower. Being a new fan, this is a real treat to see so soon after falling in love with the series! I think the cover is amazing!

  13. Thank you, everyone! I was SO excited to receive this cover. Can you see some of the details . . . such as the moon-and-stars detailing on the hilt of that sword? (Bethany House really hit the nail on the head as far as details in this cover . . . so many things that look just how I decribed them in the book itself.)

And a special welcome to Emma as a new fan! :) Happy to see you here, and glad you could share in the fun of this cover reveal!

Looking forward to sharing DRAGONWITCH with all of you next summer! In the meanwhile . . . STARFLOWER . . .

  15. I'm a new fan here, too. Your stories are amazing! Can't wait to get my hands on Starflower!
This cover -- a bit of a wake-up after the quieter Starflower cover, I think. ;) Amazing!

  16. Congratulations, Mrs. Stengl. I love stories with kitchen maids in them, so it will be interesting to see what role this Mouse character plays. I'm sure she's a mouse in name alone. The DragonWitch was so frightening in Veiled Rose, so I'm sure she's even more so in later books. Can't wait to learn more about her. A true villainness! God bless you.

  19. A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!
    Perfect!
I didn't think you could get better then the Heartless cover (realizing that the girl inside the dragon's eye wasn't being watched, but was Una INSIDE the dragon). But this definately rivals it.
Can't wait to learn about the Lady of Aiven... or should I say Beana???

  20. Good for you Emma! I kinda wish I had just jumped in.
I read Heartless two years ago, than only just as Moon Blood came out found out there was more.
